In His Self, Names, Attributes and Actions, He possesses the best of names, the most perfect of attributes and the best and most complete actions, for indeed the Actions of Allaah are based upon Grace and Justice.

"Alif Laam Raa. A Book which We have revealed to you that you might lead mankind out of darkness into the light by the leave of their Lord, the Mighty, the One Who is praised." (14:1)

"And indeed We bestowed upon Luqmaan wisdom saying: 'Give thanks to Allaah,' and whosoever gives thanks, he gives thanks for (the good) of his ownself. And whoever is ungrateful then verily Allaah is All-Rich, Worthy of All praise." (31:12)

— ‘Abd al-Rahman al-Sa‘di

God, the Exalted, said: “And He is the Wali (Helper, Supporter, Protector, Lord), Worthy of all Praise”. (Ash-Shura: 28)

The Linguistic Meaning:

Al-hamd: opposite of dispraise, and it is stronger than thanks, for it is the clearest of descriptions and best of praises.

God, the Exalted, is the All-Praiseworthy. Worthy of all praises because of His Essence, Names, Attributes and Actions, for He has the Best (Perfect) Names, Attributes and Deeds. He is being praised for His Destiny which is fair, just and free from any evil or oppression. He is praised for His Legislation, Orders and Prohibitions as they are the most complete laws, and the most useful for all creatures. He is praised by every tongue (language), for all creatures speak and talk in a thankful manner (to Him), all the time, the Exalted said: “ And there is not a thing but glorifies His Praise. But you understand not their glorification”. (Al-Isra: 44)

The Gradeur of Al-Hameed He is, the Exalted, Praiseworthy because of limitless aspects: He has Names, Attributes, Praises and Thanks, that are unknown not only to a close angel but even to a messenger. He is praised for His Oneness (Singleness): Being high above and supreme over: the partner, the equal, and the similar, and above any evil or flaw, the Exalted said: “And Say: All the praises and thanks be to Allah, Who has not begotten a son (or offspring), and Who has no partner in (His) Dominion, nor He is low to have a Wali (helper, protector or supporter). And magnify Him with all magnificence, [Allahu Akbar (Allah is the Most Great)]”. (Al-Isra’: 111)

O you who have believed, spend from the good things which you have earned and from that which We have produced for you from the earth. And do not aim toward the defective therefrom, spending [from that] while you would not take it [yourself] except with closed eyes. And know that Allāh is Free of need and Praiseworthy.

Explanation: Al-Mukhtasar

O you who have faith in Allah and follow His Messenger, spend from the pure, wholesome wealth that you have earned and from the produce that we have taken out for you from the ground. Do not look for that which is inferior to spend, because if it was given to you, you would not take it willingly because of its poor quality. How, then, can you be satisfied with offering Allah that which you would not accept for yourselves? Know that Allah is no need of your spending and He is praised in His essence and actions.

Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 267

And to Allāh belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And We have instructed those who were given the Scripture before you and yourselves to fear Allāh. But if you disbelieve - then to Allāh belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And ever is Allāh Free of need and Praiseworthy.

Explanation: Al-Mukhtasar

The dominion of everything in the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, is Allah’s alone. He had instructed the People of the Scripture, the Jews and Christians, and has instructed you, O believers, to fulfil Allah’s orders and avoid His prohibitions. If you reject this instruction you only harm yourselves, because Allah is in no need of your obedience, as everything in the heavens and earth is His. He is in no need of any of His creation. He is the One Who is praised for all His attributes and actions.

Surah An-Nisa, Verse 131

They said, "Are you amazed at the decree of Allāh? May the mercy of Allāh and His blessings be upon you, people of the house. Indeed, He is Praiseworthy and Honorable."

Explanation: Al-Mukhtasar

When Sarah was amazed at the news, the angels asked her if she was amazed by Allah’s decree and command, because people like her know that Allah is able to do such things. ‘The mercy of Allah and His blessings be upon you, people of Abraham!’ they said. Allah is praised in His attributes and actions, the Possessor of Glory and the Honourable.
