Al-Majid (الماجد): Meaning of Allah’s Name
Al-Majid: The Glorious, Vast in Wealth
Explanation of the name Al-Majid
Al-Majid carries the meaning of glory (majd), already explained with the related name meaning the All-Glorious, and the original sense of majd in the language is vastness. This name may have been repeated in a different form to reinforce the meaning of Al-Wajid, the Rich, thereby indicating vastness and abundance in wealth. It also lets the two names harmonise and sound alike, a style of speech that the Arabs held to be beautiful.
