Al-Wali (الوالي): Meaning of Allah’s Name
Al-Wali: The Governor
Explanation of the name Al-Wali
Al-Wali is the Owner of all things and the One Who governs them, Whose will acts upon them: He disposes of them as He wills, His command is carried out in them and His decree runs over them. Al-Wali may also mean the Bestower of favours, Who grants one favour after another. The word goes back to al-wali, the rain that follows the first rain which marks the face of the earth.
