Similar verses (mutashabihat) of Surah Adh-Dhariyat
متشابهات سورة الذاريات
Of the 60 verses of Surah Adh-Dhariyat, 19 resemble other verses of the Quran, sometimes down to a single word. Each one is compared word by word with its look-alikes, with the differences highlighted, so you do not mix them up when reciting from memory.
Verse 11
1 look-alikeٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ فِى غَمْرَةٍ سَاهُونَ ١١
Who are within a flood [of confusion] and heedless.
Verse 12
1 look-alikeيَسْـَٔلُونَ أَيَّانَ يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ ١٢
They ask, "When is the Day of Recompense?"
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ ١٧
And what can make you know what is the Day of Recompense?
Verse 15
7 look-alikesإِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى جَنَّٰتٍ وَعُيُونٍ ١٥
Indeed, the righteous will be among gardens and springs,
Word for word elsewhere: Al-Hijr 15:45
إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى ظِلَٰلٍ وَعُيُونٍ ٤١
Indeed, the righteous will be among shades and springs
إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى جَنَّٰتٍ وَنَعِيمٍ ١٧
Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure,
3 more similar verses
إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى جَنَّٰتٍ وَنَهَرٍ ٥٤
Indeed, the righteous will be among gardens and rivers,
فَأَخْرَجْنَٰهُم مِّن جَنَّٰتٍ وَعُيُونٍ ٥٧
So We removed them from gardens and springs
كَمْ تَرَكُوا۟ مِن جَنَّٰتٍ وَعُيُونٍ ٢٥
How much they left behind of gardens and springs
Verse 16
1 look-alikeءَاخِذِينَ مَآ ءَاتَىٰهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ قَبْلَ ذَٰلِكَ مُحْسِنِينَ ١٦
Accepting what their Lord has given them. Indeed, they were before that doers of good.
إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ قَبْلَ ذَٰلِكَ مُتْرَفِينَ ٤٥
Indeed they were, before that, indulging in affluence,
Verse 24
3 look-alikesهَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ضَيْفِ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ ٱلْمُكْرَمِينَ ٢٤
Has there reached you the story of the honored guests of Abraham? -
هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلْجُنُودِ ١٧
Has there reached you the story of the soldiers -
هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلْغَٰشِيَةِ ١
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]?
Verse 25
3 look-alikesإِذْ دَخَلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالُوا۟ سَلَٰمًا قَالَ سَلَٰمٌ قَوْمٌ مُّنكَرُونَ ٢٥
When they entered upon him and said, "[We greet you with] peace." He answered, "[And upon you] peace; [you are] a people unknown."
إِذْ دَخَلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالُوا۟ سَلَٰمًا قَالَ إِنَّا مِنكُمْ وَجِلُونَ ٥٢
When they entered upon him and said, "Peace." [Abraham] said, "Indeed, we are fearful [i.e., apprehensive] of you."
وَلَقَدْ جَآءَتْ رُسُلُنَآ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ بِٱلْبُشْرَىٰ قَالُوا۟ سَلَٰمًا قَالَ سَلَٰمٌ فَمَا لَبِثَ أَن جَآءَ بِعِجْلٍ حَنِيذٍ ٦٩
And certainly did Our messengers [i.e., angels] come to Abraham with good tidings; they said, "Peace." He said, "Peace," and did not delay in bringing [them] a roasted calf.
Verse 28
3 look-alikesفَأَوْجَسَ مِنْهُمْ خِيفَةً قَالُوا۟ لَا تَخَفْ وَبَشَّرُوهُ بِغُلَٰمٍ عَلِيمٍ ٢٨
And he felt from them apprehension. They said, "Fear not," and gave him good tidings of a learned boy.
فَلَمَّا رَءَآ أَيْدِيَهُمْ لَا تَصِلُ إِلَيْهِ نَكِرَهُمْ وَأَوْجَسَ مِنْهُمْ خِيفَةً قَالُوا۟ لَا تَخَفْ إِنَّآ أُرْسِلْنَآ إِلَىٰ قَوْمِ لُوطٍ ٧٠
But when he saw their hands not reaching for it, he distrusted them and felt from them apprehension. They said, "Fear not. We have been sent to the people of Lot."
فَأَوْجَسَ فِى نَفْسِهِۦ خِيفَةً مُّوسَىٰ ٦٧
And he sensed within himself apprehension, did Moses.
قَالُوا۟ لَا تَوْجَلْ إِنَّا نُبَشِّرُكَ بِغُلَٰمٍ عَلِيمٍ ٥٣
[The angels] said, "Fear not. Indeed, we give you good tidings of a learned boy."
Verse 30
2 look-alikesقَالُوا۟ كَذَٰلِكِ قَالَ رَبُّكِ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلْحَكِيمُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ ٣٠
They said, "Thus has said your Lord; indeed, He is the Wise, the Knowing."
رَحْمَةً مِّن رَّبِّكَ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ ٦
As mercy from your Lord. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing,
Verse 31
قَالَ فَمَا خَطْبُكُمْ أَيُّهَا ٱلْمُرْسَلُونَ ٣١
[Abraham] said, "Then what is your business [here], O messengers?"

Verse 32
1 look-alikeقَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّآ أُرْسِلْنَآ إِلَىٰ قَوْمٍ مُّجْرِمِينَ ٣٢
They said, "Indeed, we have been sent to a people of criminals
Word for word elsewhere: Al-Hijr 15:58
فَلَمَّا رَءَآ أَيْدِيَهُمْ لَا تَصِلُ إِلَيْهِ نَكِرَهُمْ وَأَوْجَسَ مِنْهُمْ خِيفَةً قَالُوا۟ لَا تَخَفْ إِنَّآ أُرْسِلْنَآ إِلَىٰ قَوْمِ لُوطٍ ٧٠
But when he saw their hands not reaching for it, he distrusted them and felt from them apprehension. They said, "Fear not. We have been sent to the people of Lot."
Verse 34
1 look-alikeمُّسَوَّمَةً عِندَ رَبِّكَ لِلْمُسْرِفِينَ ٣٤
Marked in the presence of your Lord for the transgressors."
مُّسَوَّمَةً عِندَ رَبِّكَ وَمَا هِىَ مِنَ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ بِبَعِيدٍ ٨٣
Marked from your Lord. And it [i.e., Allāh's punishment] is not from the wrongdoers [very] far.
Verse 39
1 look-alikeفَتَوَلَّىٰ بِرُكْنِهِۦ وَقَالَ سَٰحِرٌ أَوْ مَجْنُونٌ ٣٩
But he turned away with his supporters and said, "A magician or a madman."
كَذَٰلِكَ مَآ أَتَى ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا قَالُوا۟ سَاحِرٌ أَوْ مَجْنُونٌ ٥٢
Similarly, there came not to those before them any messenger except that they said, "A magician or a madman."
Verse 40
1 look-alikeفَأَخَذْنَٰهُ وَجُنُودَهُۥ فَنَبَذْنَٰهُمْ فِى ٱلْيَمِّ وَهُوَ مُلِيمٌ ٤٠
So We took him and his soldiers and cast them into the sea, and he was blameworthy.
فَأَخَذْنَٰهُ وَجُنُودَهُۥ فَنَبَذْنَٰهُمْ فِى ٱلْيَمِّ فَٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ ٤٠
So We took him and his soldiers and threw them into the sea. So see how was the end of the wrongdoers.
Verse 46
2 look-alikesوَقَوْمَ نُوحٍ مِّن قَبْلُ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ قَوْمًا فَٰسِقِينَ ٤٦
And [We destroyed] the people of Noah before; indeed, they were a people defiantly disobedient.
وَقَوْمَ نُوحٍ مِّن قَبْلُ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ هُمْ أَظْلَمَ وَأَطْغَىٰ ٥٢
And the people of Noah before. Indeed, it was they who were [even] more unjust and oppressing.
فَٱسْتَخَفَّ قَوْمَهُۥ فَأَطَاعُوهُ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ قَوْمًا فَٰسِقِينَ ٥٤
So he bluffed his people, and they obeyed him. Indeed, they were [themselves] a people defiantly disobedient [of Allāh].
Verse 50
3 look-alikesفَفِرُّوٓا۟ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ إِنِّى لَكُم مِّنْهُ نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ ٥٠
So flee to Allāh. Indeed, I am to you from Him a clear warner.
قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ إِنِّى لَكُمْ نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ ٢
He said, "O my people, indeed I am to you a clear warner -
وَلَا تَجْعَلُوا۟ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا ءَاخَرَ إِنِّى لَكُم مِّنْهُ نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ ٥١
And do not make [as equal] with Allāh another deity. Indeed, I am to you from Him a clear warner.
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِۦٓ إِنِّى لَكُمْ نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ ٢٥
And We had certainly sent Noah to his people, [saying], "Indeed, I am to you a clear warner
Verse 51
1 look-alikeوَلَا تَجْعَلُوا۟ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا ءَاخَرَ إِنِّى لَكُم مِّنْهُ نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ ٥١
And do not make [as equal] with Allāh another deity. Indeed, I am to you from Him a clear warner.
قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ إِنِّى لَكُمْ نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ ٢
He said, "O my people, indeed I am to you a clear warner -
Verse 60
1 look-alikeفَوَيْلٌ لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِن يَوْمِهِمُ ٱلَّذِى يُوعَدُونَ ٦٠
And woe to those who have disbelieved from their Day which they are promised.
فَذَرْهُمْ يَخُوضُوا۟ وَيَلْعَبُوا۟ حَتَّىٰ يُلَٰقُوا۟ يَوْمَهُمُ ٱلَّذِى يُوعَدُونَ ٨٣
So leave them to converse vainly and amuse themselves until they meet their Day which they are promised.
