سورة المعارج، الآية ٤٢
فَذَرْهُمْ يَخُوضُوا۟ وَيَلْعَبُوا۟ حَتَّىٰ يُلَٰقُوا۟ يَوْمَهُمُ ٱلَّذِى يُوعَدُونَ ٤٢
fadharhum yakhūḍū wayalʿabū ḥattā yulāqū yawmahumu alladhī yūʿadūna
So leave them to converse vainly and amuse themselves until they meet their Day which they are promised -
Verse 42 of Surah Al-Ma’arij (70:42), a Meccan surah, is in juz 29, on page 570 of the mushaf. Read it in Arabic with its transliteration, translations and tafsir, and listen to it recited by 74 reciters.

O Messenger! So leave them to dive into the falsehood and deviance they are already in, and to amuse themselves in their worldly lives, until they encounter the Day of Judgement that they have been promised in the Qur’ān.
So leave them to engage in their falsehood and amuse themselves until they meet their Day which they are promised;
So leave them to plunge in vain talk7 and play about, until they meet their Day which they are promised -

So let them chat and play until they meet their Day which they are promised,
So leave them to plunge in vain talk and play about, until they encounter that Day of theirs which they have been promised!-
Therefore leave them alone to go on with the false discourses and to sport until they come face to face with that day of theirs with which they are threatened;
So leave them out to wade (Or: be engrossed "in vain talk") and play until they meet the Day of theirs which they are promised.
They share a sequence of words with this verse: useful for telling them apart when memorising.
فَذَرْهُمْ يَخُوضُوا۟ وَيَلْعَبُوا۟ حَتَّىٰ يُلَٰقُوا۟ يَوْمَهُمُ ٱلَّذِى يُوعَدُونَ
So leave them to converse vainly and amuse themselves until they meet their Day which they are promised.
فَذَرْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ يُلَٰقُوا۟ يَوْمَهُمُ ٱلَّذِى فِيهِ يُصْعَقُونَ
So leave them until they meet their Day in which they will be struck insensible -
