Similar verses (mutashabihat) of Surah At-Takwir
متشابهات سورة التكوير
Of the 29 verses of Surah At-Takwir, 6 resemble other verses of the Quran, sometimes down to a single word. Each one is compared word by word with its look-alikes, with the differences highlighted, so you do not mix them up when reciting from memory.
Verse 14
1 look-alikeعَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَّآ أَحْضَرَتْ ١٤
A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it].
عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَّا قَدَّمَتْ وَأَخَّرَتْ ٥
A soul will [then] know what it has put forth and kept back.
Verse 19
إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍ كَرِيمٍ ١٩
[That] indeed, it [i.e., the Qur’ān] is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger [i.e., Gabriel]

Verse 27
4 look-alikesإِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِّلْعَٰلَمِينَ ٢٧
It is not except a reminder to the worlds
Word for word elsewhere: Sad 38:87
وَمَا هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِّلْعَٰلَمِينَ ٥٢
But it is not except a reminder to the worlds.
وَمَا تَسْـَٔلُهُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِّلْعَٰلَمِينَ ١٠٤
And you do not ask of them for it any payment. It is not except a reminder to the worlds.
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ هَدَى ٱللَّهُ فَبِهُدَىٰهُمُ ٱقْتَدِهْ قُل لَّآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ أَجْرًا إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرَىٰ لِلْعَٰلَمِينَ ٩٠
Those are the ones whom Allāh has guided, so from their guidance take an example. Say, "I ask of you for it [i.e., this message] no payment. It is not but a reminder for the worlds."
وَمَا عَلَّمْنَٰهُ ٱلشِّعْرَ وَمَا يَنۢبَغِى لَهُۥٓ إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ وَقُرْءَانٌ مُّبِينٌ ٦٩
And We did not give him [i.e., Prophet Muḥammad (ﷺ)] knowledge of poetry, nor is it befitting for him. It is not but a message and a clear Qur’ān
Verse 28
1 look-alikeلِمَن شَآءَ مِنكُمْ أَن يَسْتَقِيمَ ٢٨
For whoever wills among you to take a right course.
لِمَن شَآءَ مِنكُمْ أَن يَتَقَدَّمَ أَوْ يَتَأَخَّرَ ٣٧
To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind.
Verse 29
2 look-alikesوَمَا تَشَآءُونَ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ ٢٩
And you do not will except that Allāh wills - Lord of the worlds.
وَمَا تَشَآءُونَ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا ٣٠
And you do not will except that Allāh wills. Indeed, Allāh is ever Knowing and Wise.
قَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَمَا رَبُّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ ٢٣
Said Pharaoh, "And what is the Lord of the worlds?"
