The word as it is recited in the Quran: Mahmoud Khalil Al-Hussary, Maryam 19:54.
The Quran praises Ismaʿil, “true to his promise (sadiq al-waʿd)” (19:54), and commands: “O you who believe, fear Allah and be with the truthful (al-sadiqin)” (9:119). It says of the believers of Medina: “Among the believers are men who have been true to their covenant with Allah” (33:23).
