سورة يوسف، الآية ٨٢
وَسْـَٔلِ ٱلْقَرْيَةَ ٱلَّتِى كُنَّا فِيهَا وَٱلْعِيرَ ٱلَّتِىٓ أَقْبَلْنَا فِيهَا وَإِنَّا لَصَٰدِقُونَ ٨٢
wasali l-qaryata allatī kunnā fīhā wal-ʿīra allatī aqbalnā fīhā wa-innā laṣādiqūna
And ask the city in which we were and the caravan in which we came - and indeed, we are truthful.'"

In order to confirm that they were telling the truth, the brothers told their father to ask the people of the town where they had been, and to ask the people of the caravan they had come with, and that these people would tell him the same thing as they had. They said they were telling the truth in what they told him about his son’s theft.
Ask [the people of] the town where we were and the caravan we came with, and we are surely telling the truth.”
"And ask (the people of) the town where we have been, and the caravan in which we returned; and indeed we are telling the truth."
Ask the township where we were, and the caravan with which we travelled hither. Lo! we speak the truth.
"'Ask at the town where we have been and the caravan in which we returned, and (you will find) we are indeed telling the truth.'"
And inquire in the town in which we were and the caravan with which we proceeded, and most surely we are truthful.
And ask the town wherein we were and the caravan in which we came forward, and surely we are indeed sincere."
