Tafsir of verse 1
Al-Mukhtasar
O you wrapped up in your clothes (i.e. the Prophet (peace be upon him)).
"O mother of the believers, tell me about the character of the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him)." She said: "Do you not recite the Qur’an?" He said: 'Yes.' She said: "Indeed, the Prophet's character was the Qur’an."
Their sides part [i.e., they arise] from [their] beds; they supplicate their Lord in fear and aspiration, and from what We have provided them, they spend.
And from [part of] the night, pray with it [i.e., recitation of the Qur’ān] as additional [worship] for you; it is expected that your Lord will resurrect you to a praised station.
And to Allāh belong the unseen [aspects] of the heavens and the earth and to Him will be returned the matter, all of it, so worship Him and rely upon Him. And your Lord is not unaware of that which you do.
