Safwat Ash-Shawadfy

“He is for the Sunnah and against the heresy “Bidae”, a genius who used his intelligence and efforts in the service of the Islamic religion”. This is how Sheikh Mustapha Al Adaoui described Sheikh Mohammad Safwat Ash-Shawadfy, a scholar who combined between the mastery of research, thinking, Fikh, Islamic preaching and writing, as he devoted his writing skills for the Islam against the advocates of secularism.
Sheikh Safwat Ash-Shawadfy was born in the village of Al Shaghania in the governorate of Al Sharkia in Egypt in 1374 Hijr, corresponding to 1955. His family is a very conservative rural family, and his father was a man of religion in the village, and Safwat was a great successor for his father, as he worked on continuing in the same road as his father in the field of Shari’a and Islamic sciences.

Sheikh Ash-Shawadfy was one of the most enlightened and open minded preachers, as he was open to learn about several sciences. After obtaining his high school degree, he joined the University of Business and political sciences, and he was also an avid reader of literature and heritage books, the thing that impressed many of his professors.

The University was the best where his preaching action begun, as he founded a religious organization that organizes meetings and gatherings with scholars and Sheikhs and he was the mastermind behind most of the organized meetings and seminars between his friends and peers.

The preaching journey of Safwat Ash-Shawadfy did not stop at the University, as he joined the army after the University and devoted all his time to learning the holy Quran and understanding its meanings, and he also specialized in studying The Shafi’i Fikh through his attendance of many courses under the supervision of Egyptian Scholars such as Mohammad Jamil Ghazi. After his time in the army, the Sheikh went to Saudi Arabia in order to pursue his preaching goals as he mastered the Hanbali doctrine and its rules.

And because science should be shared and not hidden, Sheikh Safwat devoted his life to teaching and spreading the teachings of the Islamic religion, and the principles of the Shari’a among the people, and for that he joined the group “Ansar Al Sunnah Al Nabawia” or “the prophetic Sunnah supporters” as he worked toward preaching on a bigger level, through the construction of mosques, social care centers, and also creating the publication and distribution center “Dar Al Takwa”, in order to share the Islamic heritage and thoughts.

The achievements of Sheikh Safwat didn’t stop at this point, as he decided to take his preaching to the next level by breaking into the field of media through the Islamic Tawheed magazine, a magazine that united the Muslims of the world and shared their news and problems and solutions, and he also wrote about 100 articles dealing with real life problems and their solutions in the Islamic teachings when he was the president of production.

In his best years of giving, and just shortly after he had joined Al Bayt Al Haram, Sheikh Safwat had passed away at the age of forty-five years old, due to a fatal road accident in August he 17th 2000.
