    “The Night of Decree”

    Verses and duas to share

    Exact texts, with their reference.

Indeed, We sent it [i.e., the Qur’ān] down during the Night of Decree. And what can make you know what is the Night of Decree? The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months. The angels and the Spirit [i.e., Gabriel] descend therein by permission of their Lord for every matter. Peace it is until the emergence of dawn.

    Surah Al-Qadr, 97:1-5
The supplication of the Night of Decree

O Allah, You are Most Forgiving, and You love forgiveness; so forgive me

    At-Tirmidhi 3513

Whoever performs Qiyām (night prayer) in the Night of Decree, out of faith and in pursuit of reward, his past sins will be forgiven.

    Al-Bukhari 35

    Frequently asked questions

    When is Laylat al-Qadr?

In the last ten nights of Ramadan, most likely on one of the odd nights: “Seek the Night of Decree in the odd nights of the last ten” (al-Bukhari 2017). Many people seek it on the 27th night, but its date is not known for certain, so the practice is to stay up in worship through all of the last nights.

What should I say on Laylat al-Qadr?

The dua the Prophet ﷺ taught ʿAʾishah: “Allahumma innaka ʿafuwwun tuhibbul-ʿafwa faʿfu ʿanni” (O Allah, You pardon and love to pardon, so pardon me), reported by at-Tirmidhi.

How do I create a greeting card?

Pick the occasion and a message (or write your own), type the person’s name and tap “Send the card”: your phone offers WhatsApp, Instagram or your messages. On a computer, download or copy the image.

Are the name and photo sent anywhere?

No. The card is drawn in your browser: the name, the text and your photo never leave your device.

How do I write a name in Arabic on the card?

Tick “Also write the names in Arabic” under “Customise the card”: the usual spelling is suggested for more than 300 names (and an automatic transcription for the others, to be checked). You can always correct it.
