Quran verses about Slander (ifk)

20 verses in 8 surahs · 16 subtopics

The slander spread against the Mother of the Believers dominates these verses, which recall that the believers owed her a good opinion even more than themselves. They rebuke those who passed the rumor on without verifying it, threaten those who love to see indecency spread, and set the penalty for false accusation and the requirement of witnesses. The term also calls the worship of other than Allah a lie.

Has there not reached them the news of those before them - the people of Noah and [the tribes of] ʿAad and Thamūd and the people of Abraham and the companions [i.e., dwellers] of Madyan and the towns overturned? Their messengers came to them with clear proofs. And Allāh would never have wronged them, but they were wronging themselves.

An-Nur24:4

And those who accuse chaste women and then do not produce four witnesses - lash them with eighty lashes and do not accept from them testimony ever after. And those are the defiantly disobedient,

An-Nur24:6

Why did they [who slandered] not produce for it four witnesses? And when they do not produce the witnesses, then it is they, in the sight of Allāh, who are the liars.

An-Nur24:14

O you who have believed, do not follow the footsteps of Satan. And whoever follows the footsteps of Satan - indeed, he enjoins immorality and wrongdoing. And if not for the favor of Allāh upon you and His mercy, not one of you would have been pure, ever, but Allāh purifies whom He wills, and Allāh is Hearing and Knowing.

An-Nur24:22
