175 Authentic (sahih)

اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، اللَّهُمَّ أَهِلَّهُ عَلَيْنَا بِالْأَمْنِ وَالْإِيمَانِ، وَالسَّلاَمَةِ وَالْإِسْلاَمِ، وَالتَّوْفِيقِ لِمَا تُحِبُّ رَبَّنَا وَتَرْضَى، رَبُّنَا وَرَبُّكَ اللَّهُ.

Allāhu akbar. Allāhumma ahillahu ʿalaynā bi l-amni wa l-īmān, wa s-salāmati wa l-islām, wa t-tawfīqi limā tuḥibbu rabbanā wa tarḍā, rabbunā wa rabbuka l-lāhAllahu akbar. Allahumma ahillahu ‘alayna bi l-amni wa l-iman, wa s-salamati wa l-islam, wa t-tawfiqi lima tuhibbu rabbana wa tarda, rabbuna wa rabbuka l-lah

Allah is the greatest. O Allah, let the crescent loom above us in safety, faith, peace, and Islam, and in agreement with all that You love and pleases You. Our Lord and your Lord is Allah.

Upon breaking fast

الدعاء عند إفطار الصائم

176 Authentic (sahih)

ذَهَبَ الظَّمَأُ وَابْتَلَّتِ العُرُوقُ، وَثَبَتَ الْأَجْرُ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ.

Dhahaba ẓ-ẓamaʾu wa btallati l-ʿurūqu wa thabata l-ajru in shāʾa l-lāhDhahaba z-zama’u wa btallati l-‘uruqu wa thabata l-ajru in sha’a l-lah

The thirst has gone and the veins are quenched, and reward is confirmed, if Allah wills.

177 Good (hasan)

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِرَحْمَتِكَ الَّتِي وَسِعَتْ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ أَنْ تَغْفِرَ لِي.

Allāhumma innī asʾaluka bi-raḥmatika l-latī wasiʿat kulla shayʾin an taghfira līAllahumma inni as’aluka bi-rahmatika l-lati wasi‘at kulla shay’in an taghfira li

O Allah, I ask You by Your mercy which envelopes all things, that You forgive me.

When breaking fast in someone’s home

الدعاء إذا أفطر عند أهل بيت

184 Authentic (sahih)

أَفْطَرَ عِنْدَكُمُ الصَّائِمُونَ، وَأَكَلَ طَعَامَكُمُ الْأَبْرَارُ، وَصَلَّتْ عَلَيْكُمُ الْمَلاَئِكَةُ.

Afṭara ʿindakumu ṣ-ṣāʾimūn, wa akala ṭaʿāmakumu l-abrār, wa ṣallat ʿalaykumu l-malāʾikaAftara ‘indakumu s-sa’imun, wa akala ta‘amakumu l-abrar, wa sallat ‘alaykumu l-mala’ika

May the fasting break their fast in your home, and may the dutiful and pious eat your food, and may the angles send prayers upon you.

By one fasting when presented with food and does not break his fast

دعاء الصائم إذا حضر الطعام ولم يفطر

185 Authentic (sahih)

إِذَا دُعِيَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيُجِبْ، فَإِنْ كَانَ صَائِماً فَلْيُصَلِّ، وَإِنْ كَانَ مُفْطِراً فَلْيَطْعَمْ ، وَمَعْنَى فَلْيُصَلِّ أَيْ فَلْيَدْعُ.

When you are invited (to eat) then reply to the invitation. If you are fasting then invoke Allah's blessings (on your host), and if you are not fasting then eat.

When insulted while fasting

ما يقول الصائم إذا سابه أحد

186 Authentic (sahih)

إِنِّي صَائِمٌ، إِنِّي صَائِمٌ.

Innī ṣāʾim, innī sāʾimInni sa’im, inni sa’im

I am fasting, I am fasting.
