Everyday manners duas

Al-ḥamdu li-l-lāh
Yarḥamuka l-lāh
Yahdīkumu l-lāhu wa yuṣliḥu bālakumAl-hamdu li-l-lah
Yarhamuka l-lah
Yahdikumu l-lahu wa yuslihu balakum

When one of you sneezes he should say:(All praise if for Allah.) and his brother or companion should say to him: (May Allah have mercy upon you.) and he (i.e. the one who sneezed) replies back to him:(May Allah guide you and rectify your condition.)

Yahdīkumu l-lāhu wa yuṣliḥu bālakumYahdikumu l-lahu wa yuslihu balakum

May Allah guide you and rectify your condition.

The Messenger of Allah said: ‘You shall not enter paradise until you believe, and you shall not believe until you love one another. Shall I not inform you of something, if you were to act upon it, you will indeed achieve mutual love for one another? Spread the greeting amongst yourselves.

Aammar said: ‘Three characteristics, whoever combines them, has completed his faith: to be just, to spread greetings to all people and to spend (charitably) out of the little you have.

Aabdullah Ibn Aamr reported that a man asked the Prophet : ‘Which Islam is the best?’. He replied: Feed (the poor), and greet those whom you know as well as those whom you do not.

Wa ʿalaykumWa ‘alaykum

When the people of the Book greet you, reply by saying: (And upon you.)

Rabbi ghfir-lī wa tub ʿalayya, innaka anta t-tawwābu l-ghafūrRabbi ghfir-li wa tub ‘alayya, innaka anta t-tawwabu l-ghafur

Ibn ʿUmar said: It would be counted that the Messenger of Allah would say one hundred times at any one sitting before getting up: (O my Lord, forgive me and turn towards me (to accept my repentance). Verily You are The Oft-Returning. The Oft-Forgiving.)

Count it on the tasbih counter

Subḥānaka l-lāhumma wa bi-ḥamdik. ash-hadu an lā ilāha illā ant, astaghfiruka wa atūbu ilaykSubhanaka l-lahumma wa bi-hamdik. ash-hadu an la ilaha illa ant, astaghfiruka wa atubu ilayk

How perfect You are O Allah, and I praise You. I bear witness that None has the right to be worshipped except You. I seek Your forgiveness and turn to You in repentance.

Aʿūdhu bi-l-lāhi min ash-shayṭāni r-rajīmA‘udhu bi-l-lahi min ash-shaytani r-rajim

I take refuge with Allah from the accursed devil.

Wa lakaWa laka

ʿAbdullah Ibn Sarjis said: ‘I went to see the Prophet and ate from his food and then said to him: (May Allah forgive you, O Messenger of Allah.) he replied: (and you.)

Jazāka l-lāhu khayrāJazaka l-lahu khayra

If someone does you a favour and you say: (May Allah reward you with goodness.) then you have indeed excelled in praising him.

Aḥabbaka l-ladhī aḥbabtanī lahAhabbaka l-ladhi ahbabtani lah

May He, for whom you have loved me, love you.

Bāraka l-lāhu laka fī ahlika wa mālikBaraka l-lahu laka fi ahlika wa malik

May Allah bless for you, your family and wealth.

Bāraka l-lāhu laka fī ahlika wa mālik, innamā jazāʾu s-salafi l-ḥamdu wa l-adāʾBaraka l-lahu laka fi ahlika wa malik, innama jaza’u s-salafi l-hamdu wa l-ada’

May Allah bless for you, your family and wealth. Surely commendation and payment are the reward for a loan.

Wa fīka bāraka l-lāhWa fika baraka l-lah

(Aaishah reported that the Messenger of Allah was given a sheep and he ordered for it’s distribution. When the servant would come back (from distributing it), ʿAishah would ask: ‘What did they say?’, he replied: They would supplicate: (May Allah bless you all.) ʿAishah would then say: (and may Allah bless them.))(we return their supplication in a similar way and our reward remains with us.)

Allāhumma fa-ayyamā muʾminin sababtuh, fa-jʿal dhālika lahu qurbatan ilayka yawma l-qiyāmaAllahumma fa-ayyama mu’minin sababtuh, fa-j‘al dhalika lahu qurbatan ilayka yawma l-qiyama

O Allah, to any believer whom I have insulted, let that be cause to draw him near to You on the Day of Resurrection.

Aḥsibu [Nom de la personne] [mentionner la louange] wa l-lāhu ḥasībuh,
Wa lā uzak­kī ʿala l-lāhi aḥadāAhsibu [Nom de la personne] [mentionner la louange] wa l-lahu hasibuh,
Wa la uzak­ki ‘ala l-lahi ahada

He said: ‘If anyone of you is impelled to praise his brother, then he should say: ‘I deem so-and-so to be…and Allah is his reckoner…and I don’t praise anyone, putting it (i.e. my praising) forward, in front of Allah’s commendation, however I assume him so and so’…if he knows that of him.

Allāhumma lā tuʾākhidhnī bimā yaqūlūn, wa ghfir lī mā lā yaʿlamūn, [wa jʿalnī khayran min mā yaẓunnūn]Allahumma la tu’akhidhni bima yaqulun, wa ghfir li ma la ya‘lamun, [wa j‘alni khayran min ma yazunnun]

O Allah, do not call me to account for what they say and forgive me for what they have no knowledge of [and make me better than they imagine].
