Tafsir of verse 14
Al-Mukhtasar
But they rejected their Messenger with regards to the camel, and so the most wretched among them killed it with the consent of his people. Therefore, they were all guilty of the crime and so Allah enveloped them into His punishment and destroyed them by a shriek due to their sins. He made them equal in the punishment that He destroyed them with.
Yet they rejected him and hamstrung her6. So their Lord destroyed them for their sin and leveled them to the ground.
Notes
[6] And then killed her.
Then they denied him and they killed it. So their Lord destroyed them because of their sin, and made them equal in destruction (i.e. all grades of people, rich and poor, strong and weak, etc.)!
But they denied him, and they hamstrung her, so Allah doomed them for their sin and rased (their dwellings).
Then they rejected him (as a false prophet), and they hamstrung her. So their Lord, on account of their crime, obliterated their traces and made them equal (in destruction, high and low)!
But they called him a liar and slaughtered her, therefore their Lord crushed them for their sin and levelled them (with the ground).
Yet they cried lies to him. So they hamstrung her; then their Lord devastated them for their guilty (deed), so He leveled it (i.e., destroyed the whole country).
