Tafsir of verse 29
Al-Mukhtasar
Neither the heavens nor the earth cried over Pharaoh and his people when they drowned, nor were they given respite to repent.
Neither the heaven nor earth wept for them, nor were they given any respite.
And the heavens and the earth wept not for them,2 nor were they given a respite.
Notes
[2] (V.44:29) Narrated Ibn Jarîr At-Tabari: Ibn ‘Abbâs رضي الله عنهما said, "When a believer dies, the place of earth on which he used to prostrate himself in his Salât (prayer), and the gate in the heaven through which his good deeds used to ascend, weep for him (or her), while they do not weep for the disbeliever." [Tafsir At-Tabari].
And the heaven and the earth wept not for them, nor were they reprieved.
And neither heaven nor earth shed a tear over them: nor were they given a respite (again).
So the heaven and the earth did not weep for them, nor were they respited.
So, in no way did the heaven and the earth weep for them, and in no way were they respited.
