وَجْد
Girl Arabic origin Wajd
“Intense emotion”, the love or longing that seizes the heart
Wajd is the verbal noun of wajada in its emotional sense: “to love passionately” or “to feel deep sorrow” (root w-j-d, that of wajada, “to find”). The word expresses the strong emotion that takes hold of the heart. Among Muslim mystics, wajd is a state of rapture that comes upon the heart unsought. The name is given to girls, mostly in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf; Turkish has kept vecd in the sense of “ecstasy”.
The name Wajd does not appear as such in the Quran, but its root (و ج د) occurs 107 times. Examples:

Lodge them [in a section] of where you dwell out of your means and do not harm them in order to oppress them. And if they should be pregnant, then spend on them until they give birth. And if they breastfeed for you, then give them their payment and confer among yourselves in the acceptable way; but if you are in discord, then there may breastfeed for him [i.e., the father] another woman.
