The Prophet ﷺ said: “The most beloved of your names to Allah are ʿAbd Allah and ʿAbd al-Rahman” (Muslim 2132), and scholars add to them all names formed on a name of Allah. The name al-ʿAziz occurs 89 times in the Quran; its page in the 99 Names section gives its meaning and verses.
ʿAbd al-ʿAziz joins ʿabd, “servant”, with al-ʿAziz, from the root ʿ-z-z of strength and honour: the One whom nothing can overcome and who grants might to whom He wills. The name is written Abdelaziz in the Maghreb, Abdulaziz in the Middle East and Asia, Abdülaziz in Turkey; it was borne by the Umayyad caliph ʿUmar ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAziz, renowned for his justice.
He is Allāh, other than whom there is no deity, the Sovereign, the Pure, the Perfection, the Grantor of Security, the Overseer, the Exalted in Might, the Compeller, the Superior. Exalted is Allāh above whatever they associate with Him.
He is Allāh, the Creator, the Producer, the Fashioner; to Him belong the best names. Whatever is in the heavens and earth is exalting Him. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
