Jami' at-Tirmidhi 65

One of the wives of the Prophet (ﷺ) took a bath from a large bowl. The Prophet (ﷺ) wanted to perform ablution or take from the water left over. She said to him: O Prophet of Allah, verily I was sexually defiled. The Prophet said: Water not defiled.

إِنَّ الْمَاءَ لاَ يَجْنُبُ ‏"

Narrated by Ibn ‘Abbās

"One of the wives of the Prophet took a bath from a large vessel, then the Prophet came and had a bath or ablution, and she said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I was sexually impure.' He said: 'Water does not become impure.'"

اغْتَسَلَ بَعْضُ أَزْوَاجِ النَّبِيِّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ فِي جَفْنَةٍ فَجَاءَ النَّبِيُّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ لِيَغْتَسِلَ أَوْ يَتَوَضَّأَ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي كُنْتُ جُنُبًا ‏.‏ فَقَالَ ‏"‏…

And Ashab As-Sunan (compilers of the prophet’s sayings) reported that one of the wives of the Prophet (ﷺ) took bath from a vessel, then came the Prophet (ﷺ) and when he wanted to take bath from that (vessel), she said, “I was sexually impure”. He said, “Water does not become sexually impure”…

وَلِأَصْحَابِ "اَلسُّنَنِ": { اِغْتَسَلَ بَعْضُ أَزْوَاجِ اَلنَّبِيِّ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-فِي جَفْنَةٍ, فَجَاءَ لِيَغْتَسِلَ مِنْهَا, فَقَالَتْ لَهُ: إِنِّي كُنْتُ جُنُبًا, فَقَالَ: "إِنَّ اَلْمَاءَ لَا يُجْنِبُ" }…

We shall mention the tradition of Ibn ‘Abbas in the book on Foods* if God most High wills *Book XX , Chap. I, section II, 8th tradition; but one would have expected a tradition in section I.

Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said: “Water is pure and nothing can make it impure”. [Ath-Thalatha and Ahmad who graded it Sahih]

Narrated Abu Umama Al-Bahili: Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said: “Water cannot be rendered impure by anything except something which changes its smell, taste and colour”. [ Ibn Majar reported it and Abu Hatim described it as Da’if (weak)].

"I passed by the Prophet (ﷺ) when he was performing Wudu' from the well of Buda'ah. I said: 'Are you performing Wudu' from it when garbage is thrown into it?' He said: 'Water is not made impure by anything.'"

"We came to a pond in which there was the carcass of a donkey, so we refrained from using the water until the Messenger of Allah came to us and said: 'Water is not made impure by anything.' Then we drank from it and gave it to our animals to drink, and we carried some with us."
