Chapter: When Menstrual Blood Gets On Clothes

أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَبِيبِ بْنِ عَرَبِيٍّ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ الْمُنْذِرِ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، - وَكَانَتْ تَكُونُ فِي حِجْرِهَا - أَنَّ امْرَأَةً اسْتَفْتَتِ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم عَنْ دَمِ الْحَيْضِ يُصِيبُ الثَّوْبَ فَقَالَ ‏

"‏ حُتِّيهِ وَاقْرُصِيهِ وَانْضَحِيهِ وَصَلِّي فِيهِ ‏"

It was narrated from Asma' bint Abi Bakr that a woman asked the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) about menstrual blood that gets on clothes. He said:

"Scratch it, then rub it with water, then sprinkle water over it, and pray in it."

Reported by An-Nasa’i (No. 394).

إِذَا أَصَابَ إِحْدَاكُنَّ الدَّمُ مِنَ الْحَيْضِ فَلْتَقْرِصْهُ ثُمَّ لْتَنْضَحْهُ بِالْمَاءِ ثُمَّ لْتُصَلِّي ‏"

Authentic Sunan Abu Dawud 363

I asked the Prophet (ﷺ) about the blood of menstruation on the clothe. He said: Erase it off with a piece of wood and then wash it away with water and the leaves of the lote-tree.

حُكِّيهِ بِضِلْعٍ وَاغْسِلِيهِ بِمَاءٍ وَسِدْرٍ ‏"

Authentic Sunan Ibn Majah 628

"I asked the Messenger of Allah about menstrual blood that gets on clothing. He said, 'Wash it with water and lote leaves, and rub it, even with a piece of stick.'"

"‏ اغْسِلِيهِ بِالْمَاءِ وَالسِّدْرِ وَحُكِّيهِ وَلَوْ بِضِلَعٍ ‏"

Narrated by Umm Qays

Authentic Sunan Ibn Majah 629

"The Messenger of Allah was asked about menstrual blood that gets on clothing. He said: 'Rub it off, wash it and perform prayer in (the garment).'"

"‏ اقْرُصِيهِ وَاغْسِلِيهِ وَصَلِّي فِيهِ ‏"

Narrated by Asmā bint Abu Bakr
