حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ ثَابِتِ بْنِ هُرْمُزَ أَبِي الْمِقْدَامِ، عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ أُمِّ قَيْسٍ بِنْتِ مِحْصَنٍ، قَالَتْ سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ عَنْ دَمِ الْحَيْضِ يُصِيبُ الثَّوْبَ قَالَ ‏

"‏ اغْسِلِيهِ بِالْمَاءِ وَالسِّدْرِ وَحُكِّيهِ وَلَوْ بِضِلَعٍ ‏"

It was narrated that Umm Qais bint Mihsan said:

"I asked the Messenger of Allah about menstrual blood that gets on clothing. He said, 'Wash it with water and lote leaves, and rub it, even with a piece of stick.'"

Reported by Ibn Majah (No. 628).

Al-Sindi — Hashiyat al-Sindi on Sunan Ibn Majah

قَوْله ( وَحُكِّيهِ وَلَوْ بِضِلْعٍ ) بِكَسْرِ مُعْجَمَة وَفَتْح لَام أَيْ بِعُودٍ وَفِي الْأَصْل وَاحِدُ أَضْلَاع الْحَيَوَان أُرِيد بِهِ الْعُود الْمُشَبَّه بِهِ وَقَدْ تُسَكَّن اللَّام تَخْفِيفًا قَالَ الْخَطَّابِيُّ وَإِنَّمَا أَمَرَ بِحَكِّهِ لِيَنْقَلِع الْمُتَجَسِّد مِنْهُ اللَّاصِق بِالثَّوْبِ ثُمَّ يَتْبَعهُ الْمَاء لِيُزِيلَ الْأَثَر وَزِيَادَة السِّدْر لِلْمُبَالَغَةِ وَإِلَّا فَالْمَاء يَكْفِي وَذِكْر الْمَاء لِأَنَّهُ الْمُتَعَيِّن وَلَا يَلْزَم مِنْهُ أَنَّ غَيْره مِنْ الْمَائِعَات لَا يُجْزِئ وَلَوْ كَانَ لِبَيَانِ اللَّازِم لَوَجَبَ السِّدْر أَيْضًا وَلَا قَائِل بِهِ.…

إِذَا أَصَابَ إِحْدَاكُنَّ الدَّمُ مِنَ الْحَيْضِ فَلْتَقْرِصْهُ ثُمَّ لْتَنْضَحْهُ بِالْمَاءِ ثُمَّ لْتُصَلِّي ‏"

Authentic Sunan Abu Dawud 363

I asked the Prophet (ﷺ) about the blood of menstruation on the clothe. He said: Erase it off with a piece of wood and then wash it away with water and the leaves of the lote-tree.

حُكِّيهِ بِضِلْعٍ وَاغْسِلِيهِ بِمَاءٍ وَسِدْرٍ ‏"

Authentic Sunan Ibn Majah 629

"The Messenger of Allah was asked about menstrual blood that gets on clothing. He said: 'Rub it off, wash it and perform prayer in (the garment).'"

"‏ اقْرُصِيهِ وَاغْسِلِيهِ وَصَلِّي فِيهِ ‏"

Narrated by Asmā bint Abu Bakr

Authentic Sunan an-Nasa'i 293

"Scratch it, then rub it with water, then sprinkle water over it, and pray in it."
