حَدَّثَنَا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْجَهْضَمِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ، عَنْ إِيَاسِ بْنِ أَبِي رَمْلَةَ الشَّامِيِّ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَجُلاً، سَأَلَ زَيْدَ بْنَ أَرْقَمَ هَلْ شَهِدْتَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ عِيدَيْنِ فِي يَوْمٍ قَالَ نَعَمْ ‏.‏ قَالَ فَكَيْفَ كَانَ يَصْنَعُ قَالَ

صَلَّى الْعِيدَ ثُمَّ رَخَّصَ فِي الْجُمُعَةِ ثُمَّ قَالَ ‏"‏ مَنْ شَاءَ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ فَلْيُصَلِّ ‏"

It was narrated that Iyas bin Abi Ramlah Ash-Shami said:

“I heard a man asking Zaid bin Arqam: ‘Were you present with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) when there were two ‘Eid on one day?’ He said: ‘Yes.’ He said: ‘What did he do?’ He said: ‘He prayed the ‘Eid prayer, then he granted a concession not to pray the Friday, then he said: “Whoever wants to pray (Friday), let him do so.”’”

Al-Sindi — Hashiyat al-Sindi on Sunan Ibn Majah

( ثُمَّ رَخَّصَ فِي الْجُمُعَة ) أَيْ فِي تَرْكهَا حَيْثُ قَالَ مَنْ شَاءَ أَنْ يُصَلِّي فَأَحَالَ الْأَمْر إِلَى الْمَشِيئَة وَالْمَعْنَى مَنْ شَاءَ أَنْ يُصَلِّي الْجُمُعَة فَلْيُصَلِّ وَمَنْ شَاءَ أَنْ يَكْتَفِي بِالْعِيدِ يُجِزْهُ حُضُوره عَنْ حُضُور الْجُمُعَة لَكِنْ لَا يَسْقُط بِهِ الظُّهْر كَذَا قَالَهُ الْخَطَّابِيُّ وَمَذْهَب عُلَمَائِنَا لُزُوم الْحُضُور لِلْجُمُعَةِ وَلَا يَخْفَى عَلَى الْمُتَتَبِّع أَنَّ أَحَادِيث هَذَا الْبَاب بَعْضهَا يَقْتَضِي سُقُوط الظُّهْر أَيْضًا لِحَدِيثِ بْن الزُّبَيْر وَهُوَ غَيْر مَذْكُور فِي الْكِتَاب وَبَعْضهَا يَقْتَضِي عَدَم لُزُوم الْحُضُور لِلْجُمُعَةِ مَعَ كَوْنه سَاكِتًا عَنْ لُزُوم الظُّهْر وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَم.…

"Eid and Jumu'ah fell on the same day during the time of Ibn Az-Zubair, so he delayed going out until the sun had risen quite high. Then he went out and delivered a Khutbah, and he made the Khutbah lengthy. Then he came down and prayed, and he did not lead the people in praying jumu'ah that day…

فَأَخَّرَ الْخُرُوجَ حَتَّى تَعَالَى النَّهَارُ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ فَخَطَبَ فَأَطَالَ الْخُطْبَةَ ثُمَّ نَزَلَ فَصَلَّى وَلَمْ يُصَلِّ لِلنَّاسِ يَوْمَئِذٍ الْجُمُعَةَ ‏.‏ فَذُكِرَ ذَلِكَ لاِبْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فَقَالَ أَصَابَ…

Differing grades Sunan Abu Dawud 1073

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: Two festivals ('Id and Friday) have synchronised on this day. If anyone does not want to offer the Friday prayer, the 'Id prayer is sufficient for him. But we shall offer the Friday prayer. This tradition has been narrated by 'Umar from Shu'bah.

قَدِ اجْتَمَعَ فِي يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا عِيدَانِ فَمَنْ شَاءَ أَجْزَأَهُ مِنَ الْجُمُعَةِ وَإِنَّا مُجَمِّعُونَ ‏"

“Two ‘Eid came together at the time of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), so he led the people in prayer, then he said: ‘Whoever wishes to come to Friday (prayer), let him come, and whoever wishes to stay behind, let him stay behind.’”
