Sahih al-Bukhari 5244

The Prophet (ﷺ) forbade going to one's family at night (on arrival from a journey).

يَطْرُقَ أَهْلَهُ لَيْلاً‏.‏

Narrated by Jābir ibn ‘Abdullāh

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "When one of you stays away (from his family) for a long period of time, let him not surprise his family by night." In another narration, Jabir (May Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) prohibited us from coming back to our family at night…

"‏إذا أطال أحدكم الغيبة فلا يطرقن أهله ليلاً‏"

Narrated by Jābir ibn ‘Abdullāh

"When one of you has been away from home for a long time, he must not come to his family during the night."

وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ لِلْبُخَارِيِّ : { إِذَا أَطَالَ 1‏ أَحَدُكُمُ الْغَيْبَةَ , فَلَا يَطْرُقْ أَهْلَهُ لَيْلاً } 2‏ .‏ ‏1 ‏- في " أ " : " طال " وهو تحريف.‏ ‏2 ‏- صحيح .‏ رواه البخاري ( 5244 )‏.‏

Jabir reported God’s Messenger as saying, “When one of you has been away from home for a long time he must not come to his family during the night.” (Bukhari and Muslim.)

وَعَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسلم: «إِذا طَال أَحَدُكُمُ الْغَيْبَةَ فَلَا يَطْرُقْ أَهْلَهُ لَيْلًا»

Narrated by Jābir ibn ‘Abdullāh

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) would not come (back) to his family by night. He used to come in the morning or in the evening (before dark). [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

وعن أنس رضي الله عنه قال‏:‏ كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم لا يطرق أهله ليلاً، وكان يأتيهم غدوة أو عشية‏.‏ ‏(‏‏(‏متفق عليه‏)‏‏)‏ ‏الطروق‏ ‏ ‏:‏المجيء في الليل‏.‏

أَمْهِلُوا حَتَّى نَدْخُلَ لَيْلاً لِكَىْ تَمْتَشِطَ الشَّعِثَةُ وَتَسْتَحِدَّ الْمُغِيبَةُ ‏"

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade that a man should come to his family like (an unexpected) night visitor doubting their fidelity and spying into their lapses.

أَنْ يَطْرُقَ الرَّجُلُ أَهْلَهُ لَيْلاً يَتَخَوَّنُهُمْ أَوْ يَلْتَمِسُ عَثَرَاتِهِمْ ‏

If one of you comes (back from a journey) at night. he should not enter his house as a night visitor (but should wait) until a woman whose husband has been away from house has removed the hair from her private parts and a woman with dishevelled hair has combed her hair.

إِذَا قَدِمَ أَحَدُكُمْ لَيْلاً فَلاَ يَأْتِيَنَّ أَهْلَهُ طُرُوقًا حَتَّى تَسْتَحِدَّ الْمُغِيبَةُ وَتَمْتَشِطَ الشَّعِثَةُ ‏"

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) disapproved that a man should come to his family during the night (after returning from a journey).

يَكْرَهُ أَنْ يَأْتِيَ الرَّجُلُ أَهْلَهُ طُرُوقًا
