Chapter: If a man is away for a long time, he should not enter his house at night.

حَدَّثَنَا آدَمُ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَارِبُ بْنُ دِثَارٍ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ قَالَ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَكْرَهُ أَنْ

يَأْتِيَ الرَّجُلُ أَهْلَهُ طُرُوقًا‏.‏

Narrated Jabir bin `Abdullah:

The Prophet (ﷺ) disliked that one should go to one's family at night (on returning from a journey).

قَوْله ( يُكْرَه أَنْ يَأْتِي الرَّجُل أَهْله طُرُوقًا ) فِي حَدِيث أَنَس " أَنَّ النَّبِيّ صَلَّى اللَّه عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ لَا يُطْرَق أَهْله لَيْلًا , وَكَانَ يَأْتِيهِمْ غَدْوَة أَوْ عَشِيَّة " أَخْرَجَهُ مُسْلِم , قَالَ أَهْل اللُّغَة : الطُّرُوق بِالضَّمِّ الْمَجِيء بِاللَّيْلِ مِنْ سَفَر أَوْ مِنْ غَيْره عَلَى غَفْلَة , وَيُقَال لِكُلِّ آتٍ بِاللَّيْلِ طَارِق وَلَا يُقَال بِالنَّهَارِ إِلَّا مَجَازًا كَمَا تَقَدَّمَ تَقْرِيره فِي أَوَاخِر الْحَجّ فِي الْكَلَام عَلَى الرِّوَايَة الثَّانِيَة حَيْثُ قَالَ لَا يَطْرُق أَهْله لَيْلًا , وَمِنْهُ حَدِيث " طَرَقَ عَلِيًّا وَفَاطِمَة " وَقَالَ بَعْض أَهْل اللُّغَة : أَصْل الطُّرُوق الدَّفْع وَالضَّرْب , وَبِذَلك سُمِّيَتْ الطَّرِيق لِأَن…
