حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ النُّفَيْلِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم

أَنْ يُتَنَفَّسَ فِي الإِنَاءِ أَوْ يُنْفَخَ فِيهِ ‏.‏

Ibn ‘Abbās (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) forbade breathing into the pot or blowing into it.

Reported by Abu Dawud (No. 3728), At-Tirmidhi (No. 1888) and Ahmad (No. 1808).

Explanation

This Hadīth relates one of the manners of eating and drinking, which is the prohibition to breathe or blow into the pot when eating or drinking. Breathing is forbidden because of its demerits, such as blemishing the cleanness of the pot and contaminating the drink, besides the fact that doing this entails that the person breathes and drinks at the same time, which may cause suffocating. As the Sunnah indicates, one should drink three times, breathing outside the pot, which makes drinking more enjoyable and pleasing. The Hadīth in hand forbids blowing into the food and drink for any reason, such as hotness or for removing something. This way, one keeps the food clean from saliva or bad smell.

هذا الحديث فيه بيان أدب من آداب الأكل والشرب، وهو النهي عن التنفس والنفخ في الإناء الذي يؤكل أو يشرب منه، فأما النهي عن التنفس في الإناء فلما في ذلك من المضار: كتقذير الإناء؛ والشراب على الشارب، بعد المتنفس، كما أنَّه يتنفس ويشرب في آنٍ واحد، فربَّما سبَّب له الاختناق، فالشرب -كما جاء في السنة- من ثلاثة أنفاس خارج الإناء أمرأُ، وألذُّ، وأهنأُ، وفي هذا الحديث أيضا النهي عن النفخ في الطعام والشراب لأي سبب كسخونة، أو لإزالة شيء؛ وذلك حمايةً للطعام والشراب؛ لئلا يتقذر به من البزاق، أو أثر رائحة كريهة تعلق بالماء.

النَّهي عن التنفس في الإناء؛ لما في ذلك من المضار والمفاسد, والسنة التنفس خارج الإناء.
النهي عن النفخ في الطعام والشراب؛ لئلا يتقذر به من البزاق أو أثر رائحة كريهة تعلق بالماء.
أن السنة لمن أراد أن يتنفس أثناء شربه أن يفصل الإناء عن فمه, بحيث يتنفس خارجه.
أن الشريعة شاملة كاملة, ضبطت جميع التصرفات والأفعال بالأحكام والآداب المناسبة.

( نَهَى رَسُول اللَّه صَلَّى اللَّه عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يُتَنَفَّس ) : بِصِيغَةِ الْمَجْهُول أَيْ لِخَوْفِ بُرُوز شَيْء مِنْ رِيقه فَيَقَع فِي الْمَاء , وَقَدْ يَكُون مُتَغَيِّر الْفَم فَتَعْلَق الرَّائِحَة بِالْمَاءِ لِرِقَّتِهِ وَلَطَافَته , فَيَكُون الْأَحْسَنُ فِي الْأَدَب أَنْ يَتَنَفَّس بَعْد إِبَانَة الْإِنَاء عَنْ فَمه , وَأَنْ لَا يَتَنَفَّس فِيهِ ( أَوْ يُنْفَخ ) : بِصِيغَةِ الْمَجْهُول فَلْيَصْبِرْ حَتَّى يَبْرُد , وَإِنْ كَانَ مِنْ أَجْلِ قَذًى يُبْصِرهُ فَلْيُمِطْهُ بِأُصْبُعٍ أَوْ بِخِلَالٍ أَوْ نَحْوه وَلَا حَاجَة بِهِ إِلَى النَّفْخ فِيهِ بِحَالٍ ( فِيهِ ) : أَيْ فِي الْإِنَاء الَّذِي يَشْرَب مِنْهُ وَالْإِنَاء يَشْمَل إِنَاء الطَّعَام وَالشَّرَاب فَلَا يَنْفُخ فِي الْإِن…
