Text of verse 71:17

وَٱللَّهُ أَنۢبَتَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَرْضِ نَبَاتًا ۝١٧

Transliteration

wal-lahu anbatakum mina l-arḍi nabātan

Translation

And Allāh has caused you to grow from the earth a [progressive] growth.

Al-Mukhtasar

“And Allah is the one who created you from the earth, by creating your father Adam from soil. Then, you are also nourished by whatever it grows for you.”

Allah has produced you from the earth like a plant⁵,

And Allah hath caused you to grow as a growth from the earth,
