Al-Mukhtasar
Was it not a sign of your truthfulness for these people who reject you, that the scholars of the Israelites like Abdullah bin Salām, knew the reality of what has been revealed to you?
Was it not a proof for them that the learned men of the Children of Israel recognized it [to be true]24?
Notes
[24] e.g., Abdullah ibn Salām, a Jewish scholar, accepted Islam during the lifetime of the Prophet (ﷺ), for he knew that he came with a true message.
Is it not a sign to them that the learned scholars (like ‘Abdullâh bin Salâm رضي الله عنه who embraced Islâm)3 of the Children of Israel knew it (as true)?
Notes
[3] (V.26:197) See the footnote of (V.5:66) [The story about ‘Abdullâh bin Salâm رضي الله عنه].
Is it not a token for them that the doctors of the Children of Israel know it?
Is it not a Sign to them that the Learned of the Children of Israel knew it (as true)?
Is it not a sign to them that the learned men of the Israelites know it?
And was it not a sign for them, that it is known to the men of knowledge of the Seeds (Or: sons) of ? Israel)
Those who follow the Messenger, the unlettered prophet, whom they find written [i.e., described] in what they have of the Torah and the Gospel, who enjoins upon them what is right and prohibits them from what is wrong and makes lawful for them what is good and forbids them from what is evil and relieves them of their burden and the shackles which were upon them. So they who have believed in him, honored him, supported him and followed the light which was sent down with him - it is those who will be the successful.
