Tafsir of verse 22
Al-Mukhtasar
The only being that truly deserves to be worshipped is only one being who has no partner and that is Allah. Those who deny the resurrection and the recompense, their hearts are arrogant and they do not fear the reckoning. They therefore do not believe that there will be any reckoning or retribution. They are arrogant and refuse to accept the truth.
Your God is One God. But those who do not believe in the Hereafter, their hearts refuse to know, and they are arrogant13.
Notes
[13] Arrogance and snobbery are the underlying reasons for denying Allah’s Signs and rejecting the Truth.
Your Ilâh (God) is One Ilâh (God - Allâh, none has the right to be worshipped but He). But for those who believe not in the Hereafter, their hearts deny (the faith in the Oneness of Allâh), and they are proud.
Your Allah is One Allah. But as for those who believe not in the Hereafter their hearts refuse to know, for they are proud.
Your Allah is one Allah: as to those who believe not in the Hereafter, their hearts refuse to know, and they are arrogant.
Your Allah is one Allah; so (as for) those who do not believe in the hereafter, their hearts are ignorant and they are proud.
Your God is One God. So, the ones who do not believe in the Hereafter, their hearts (are) denying and they are waxing proud.
And when Allāh is mentioned alone, the hearts of those who do not believe in the Hereafter shrink with aversion, but when those [worshipped] other than Him are mentioned, immediately they rejoice.
