About Surah Al-Qari’ah
Al-Qari’ah is a purely Meccan surah, revealed after Surah Quraysh and before Surah Al-Qiyamah. Al-qari’ah comes from qar’, striking hard enough to make a violent sound; here it means the Resurrection, so named because it strikes the hearts with its terrors, just as it is also called At-Tammah, As-Sakhkhah, Al-Haqqah and Al-Ghashiyah.
