Virtues and benefits of Surah Al-’Adiyat
No established hadith concerns Surah Al-’Adiyat in particular; its recognised merit is that it belongs to the Mufassal, by which the Prophet ﷺ was favoured over the other prophets, according to the hadith of Wathilah ibn al-Asqa’. It swears by the charging horses, exposes man’s ingratitude and love of wealth, and reminds him of the reckoning after death.

About Surah Al-’Adiyat
Surah Al-’Adiyat, also called “Wal-’Adiyat”, is the 100th surah of the Qur’an and has eleven verses. Many commentators consider it Meccan, but a report about its revelation, that the Prophet ﷺ had sent out a cavalry troop and heard no news of it for a month, would rather make it Medinan; Allah knows best. “Al-’Adiyat” means the chargers, from ’adw, a fast run.
