Virtues and benefits of Surah Al-Jumu’ah

Surah 62 11 verses Medinan

It is established in Muslim that the Prophet ﷺ recited Surah Al-Jumu’ah in the Friday prayer, followed in the second rak’ah by Al-Munafiqun or Al-Ghashiyah, since it urges attending Friday prayer and hastening to it and recalls the blessing of his mission. It is also one of the Musabbihat he recited before sleeping: “Among them is a verse better than a thousand verses.”

About Surah Al-Jumu’ah

Surah Al-Jumu’ah has eleven verses; it was revealed after At-Tahrim and before At-Taghabun, and is named after Friday and the obligation to hasten to its prayer. Al-Bukhari reports that Abu Hurayrah said: we were sitting with the Prophet ﷺ when it was revealed; he recited it, and at the verse “and others of them who have not yet joined them” he was asked about them; he placed his hand on Salman the Persian and said: “If faith were at the Pleiades, men from these would attain it.”
