Text of verse 72:7

وَأَنَّهُمْ ظَنُّوا۟ كَمَا ظَنَنتُمْ أَن لَّن يَبْعَثَ ٱللَّهُ أَحَدًا ۝٧

Transliteration

wa-annahum ẓannū kamā ẓanantum an lan yabʿatha l-lahu aḥadan

Translation

And they had thought, as you thought, that Allāh would never send anyone [as a messenger].

Al-Mukhtasar

And that humans thought as you did, O jinn, that Allah will not resurrect anyone after his death for the reckoning and recompense.

Other translations of verse 7

They thought, just like you [jinn] thought that Allah would never send any messenger.

‘And they thought as you thought, that Allâh will not send any Messenger (to mankind or jinn).

And indeed they supposed, even as ye suppose, that Allah would not raise anyone (from the dead) -

'And they (came to) think as ye thought, that Allah would not raise up any one (to Judgment).

And that they thought as you think, that Allah would not raise anyone:

And that they surmised, as you (The pronoun is plural) also surmised, that Allah would never make anyone to rise again.
