Boy Hebrew origin Yūnus
ProphetIn the QuranSurah nameName of the prophet Yunus (Jonah); in Hebrew, “dove”
The word as it is recited in the Quran: Mahmoud Khalil Al-Hussary, As-Saffat 37:139.
Yunus son of Matta is named four times in the Quran, and Surah 10 bears his name; his people alone saw their faith benefit them as the punishment drew near (10:98). Swallowed by the fish, he called out: “There is no god but You! Glory be to You! I have been one of the wrongdoers” (21:87). The Prophet ﷺ said that no Muslim makes this supplication of Dhu al-Nun without being answered (al-Tirmidhi 3505).
Yunus is the Arabic form of the Hebrew Yonah, “dove”; its final -s recalls the Greek Ionas, through which the name probably passed. It therefore has no Arabic root. The Quran also calls this prophet Dhu al-Nun, “the one of the fish” (21:87), nun meaning a large fish, and “the companion of the fish” (68:48). In Turkey the name also recalls the mystic poet Yunus Emre.
Yes: Yunus is named in the Quran 4 times, in 4 surahs.

And indeed, Jonah was among the messengers.
Then has there not been a [single] city that believed so its faith benefited it except the people of Jonah? When they believed, We removed from them the punishment of disgrace in worldly life and gave them enjoyment [i.e., provision] for a time.
Indeed, We have revealed to you, [O Muḥammad], as We revealed to Noah and the prophets after him. And We revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, the Descendants, Jesus, Job, Jonah, Aaron, and Solomon; and to David We gave the book [of Psalms].
And Ishmael and Elisha and Jonah and Lot - and all [of them] We preferred over the worlds.
