ثَنَاء
Girl Arabic origin Thanāʾ
“Praise, commendation”; Sena in Turkey
In a hadith qudsi about al-Fatiha, when the worshipper recites “the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate”, Allah says: “My servant has praised Me (athna ʿalayya)” (Muslim 395). And the Prophet ﷺ used to say in prostration: “I cannot enumerate Your praise (thanaʾan ʿalayk); You are as You have praised Yourself” (Muslim 486).
Thanaʾ is praise, the commendation one makes of someone: athna ʿalayhi, “he praised him”. The word comes from the root th-n-y, which expresses folding and repeating, and lexicographers see in it the idea of repeating a person’s good qualities. The name is given in the Middle East and the Maghreb; in Egypt, where th is pronounced s, it sounds like Sanaʾ. It is also the origin of the Turkish Sena (sena), very popular in Turkey, alone or in compounds (Nursena).
The name Thanaa does not appear as such in the Quran, but its root (ث ن ي) occurs 29 times. Examples:

One night I did not find the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) in bed, and as I groped for him, my hand fell over the sole of his feet, while he was in the mosque, and they were held erect. He was saying: "O Allah, I seek refuge with Your pleasure from Your wrath, and…
