Boy Arabic origin Iyād
“What strengthens, support, backing”
The noun iyad is not in the Quran, but its root is, for strength: “The heaven We built with power (bi-aydin)” (51:47); Dawud is called “the man of strength (dha al-ayd)” (38:17), and Allah tells the believers of Badr: “He strengthened you (ayyadakum) with His help” (8:26).
Iyad comes from the root ʾ-y-d of strength (ayd): lexicographers explain it as anything that serves to strengthen and protect, like the flank of an army or the earth bank around a tent. It is also the name of a great ancient Arab tribe, that of Quss ibn Saʿida al-Iyadi, an orator proverbial for his eloquence. Iyed is the usual form in Tunisia.
The name Iyad does not appear as such in the Quran, but its root (أ ي د) occurs 11 times. Examples:
And the heaven We constructed with strength, and indeed, We are [its] expander.

Be patient over what they say and remember Our servant, David, the possessor of strength; indeed, he was one who repeatedly turned back [to Allāh].
And remember when you were few and oppressed in the land, fearing that people might abduct you, but He sheltered you, supported you with His victory, and provided you with good things - that you might be grateful.
