In the Quran“Paradise”, its highest garden
The word as it is recited in the Quran: Mahmoud Khalil Al-Hussary, Al-Kahf 18:107.
The Quran names it twice: “Those who believe and do good deeds will have the gardens of Firdaws as a lodging” (18:107), and the believers “will inherit Firdaws, abiding there forever” (23:11). The Prophet ﷺ said: “When you ask Allah, ask Him for Firdaws: it is the middle and the highest part of Paradise” (al-Bukhari 2790).
Firdaws means a luxuriant garden, where vines and all kinds of trees grow. Most philologists connect the word with Old Persian pairidaeza, “enclosure”, the source of Greek paradeisos and English “paradise”; Arab lexicographers called it Greek or Syriac, some Arabic. A feminine name in the Maghreb (Firdaous) and Turkey (Firdevs), used for both sexes in South Asia.
Yes: Firdaus is named in the Quran 2 times, in 2 surahs.
