The Prophet ﷺ said: “The most beloved of your names to Allah are ʿAbd Allah and ʿAbd al-Rahman” (Muslim 2132), and scholars add to them all names formed on a name of Allah. The name al-Hakim occurs 91 times in the Quran; its page in the 99 Names section gives its meaning and verses.
ʿAbd al-Hakim joins ʿabd with al-Hakim, from the root h-k-m of judgement and wisdom: the One who puts everything in its place and whose decrees are perfectly wise. Al-Hakim is one of the most frequent names in the Quran, often joined with al-ʿAlim or al-ʿAziz. The name is common in the Maghreb (Abdelhakim).
He is Allāh, the Creator, the Producer, the Fashioner; to Him belong the best names. Whatever is in the heavens and earth is exalting Him. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
