أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الضَّحَّاكُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ، عَنْ حَنْظَلَةَ بْنِ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ، عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم إِذَا

اغْتَسَلَ مِنَ الْجَنَابَةِ دَعَا بِشَىْءٍ نَحْوِ الْحِلاَبِ فَأَخَذَ بِكَفِّهِ بَدَأَ بِشِقِّ رَأْسِهِ الأَيْمَنِ ثُمَّ الأَيْسَرِ ثُمَّ أَخَذَ بِكَفَّيْهِ فَقَالَ بِهِمَا عَلَى رَأْسِهِ ‏.‏

It was narrated that 'Aishah said:

"When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) performed Ghusl from Janabah, he would call for something like a vessel used for milking a she-camel, then he would take (some water) in his hand and start with the right side of his head, then the left, then take (some water) in his hands and start pouring it on his head."

قَوْله ( نَحْو الْحِلَاب ) بِكَسْرِ الْحَاء الْمُهْمَلَة وَتَخْفِيف اللَّام وَمُوَحَّدَة إِنَاء يَسَع قَدْر حَلْب نَاقَة ( بَدَأَ بِشِقِّ رَأْسه ) بِكَسْرِ الشِّين أَيْ نِصْفه وَنَاحِيَته ( فَقَالَ بِهِمَا ) مِنْ إِطْلَاق الْقَوْل عَلَى الْفِعْل وَالْحَدِيث دَالّ عَلَى أَنَّهُ لَا يَقْصِد بِالتَّثْلِيثِ التَّكْرَار بَلْ الِاسْتِيعَاب فَلَا دَلِيل فِي تَثْلِيث الصَّبّ عَلَى الرَّأْس لِمَنْ يَقُول بِالتَّكْرَارِ فِي الْغَسْل كَمَا سَبَقَ وَاَللَّه تَعَالَى أَعْلَم.…

Whenever the Prophet (ﷺ) took the bath of Janaba (sexual relation or wet dream) he asked for the Hilab or some other scent. He used to take it in his hand, rub it first over the right side of his head and then over the left and then rub the middle of his head with both hands.

دَعَا بِشَىْءٍ نَحْوَ الْحِلاَبِ، فَأَخَذَ بِكَفِّهِ، فَبَدَأَ بِشِقِّ رَأْسِهِ الأَيْمَنِ ثُمَّ الأَيْسَرِ، فَقَالَ بِهِمَا عَلَى رَأْسِهِ‏.‏

When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) took a bath because of sexual intercourse, he called for a vessel and took a handful of water from it and first (washed) the right side of his head, then left, and then took a handful (of water) and poured it on his head.
