Authentic hadith of Sahih Muslim Muttafaq ‘alayh (Bukhari and Muslim) Sahih Muslim 2950

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، وَعَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ أَبِي، حَازِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏.‏ وَحَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، - وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ - حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ سَهْلاً، يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم يُشِيرُ بِإِصْبَعِهِ الَّتِي تَلِي الإِبْهَامَ وَالْوُسْطَى وَهُوَ يَقُولُ ‏"‏

بُعِثْتُ أَنَا وَالسَّاعَةُ هَكَذَا ‏"

This hadith has been reported by Sahl b. Sa'd that he heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying:

I and the Last Hour are (close to each other) like this (and he, in order to explain it) pointed (by joining his) forefinger, (one) next to the thumb and the middle finger (together).

Reported by Muslim (No. 2950) and Al-Bukhari (No. 6503).

An-Nawawi — Sharh Sahih Muslim

قَوْله صَلَّى اللَّه عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : ( بُعِثْت أَنَا وَالسَّاعَة هَكَذَا ) وَفِي رِوَايَة : ( كَهَاتَيْنِ , وَضَمَّ السَّبَّابَة وَالْوُسْطَى ) , وَفِي رِوَايَة : ( قَرَنَ بَيْنهمَا ). قَالَ قَتَادَة : كَفَضْلِ إِحْدَاهُمَا عَلَى الْأُخْرَى. رُوِيَ بِنَصْبِ السَّاعَة وَرَفْعهَا. وَأَمَّا مَعْنَاهُ فَقِيلَ : الْمُرَاد بَيْنهمَا شَيْء يَسِير كَمَا بَيْن الْأُصْبُعَيْنِ فِي الطُّول , وَقِيلَ , هُوَ إِشَارَة إِلَى قُرْب الْمُجَاوَزَة.…
