Halt at al-Abtah is not the Sunnah. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) halted there simply because it was easier for him to depart from there, when he left.

نُزُولُ الأَبْطَحِ لَيْسَ بِسُنَّةٍ إِنَّمَا نَزَلَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم لأَنَّهُ كَانَ أَسْمَحَ لِخُرُوجِهِ إِذَا خَرَجَ ‏.‏

Narrated by Ā’ishah

This hadith is narrated on the authority of Hisham with the same chain of transmitters.

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) halted there, for it is a place from where it was easy to depart.

إِنَّمَا نَزَلَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم لأَنَّهُ كَانَ مَنْزِلاً أَسْمَحَ لِخُرُوجِهِ ‏.‏

Narrated by Ā’ishah

"The Messenger of Allah only camped at Al-Abtah because it was easier for his departure."

إِنَّمَا نَزَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم الأَبْطَحَ لأَنَّهُ كَانَ أَسْمَحَ لِخُرُوجِهِ ‏

Narrated by Ā’ishah

“Staying in Abtah is not Sunnah; the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) only stayed there because it was more convenient for his departure.”

Staying at Al-Mahassab is not one of the ceremonies (of Hajj), but Al-Mahassab is a place where Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) camped (during his Hajjat-al-Wida).

لَيْسَ التَّحْصِيبُ بِشَىْءٍ، إِنَّمَا هُوَ مَنْزِلٌ نَزَلَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم‏.‏

It (i.e. Al-Abtah) was a place where the Prophet (ﷺ) used to camp so that it might be easier for him to depart.

إِنَّمَا كَانَ مَنْزِلٌ يَنْزِلُهُ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم لِيَكُونَ أَسْمَحَ لِخُرُوجِهِ‏.‏ يَعْنِي بِالأَبْطَحِ‏.‏

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) did not command me to observe halt at al-Abtah when be departed from Mina, but I came and set up his (the Holy Prcphet's) tent (of my own accord) ; and he (Allah's Apostle) came and observed halt. لَمْ يَأْمُرْنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَنْ أَنْزِلَ الأَبْطَحَ حِينَ خَرَجَ مِنْ مِنًى وَلَكِنِّي جِئْتُ فَضَرَبْتُ فِيهِ قُبَّتَهُ فَجَاءَ فَنَزَلَ ‏.‏

Narrated by Abu Rāfi

Ibn 'Umar (Allah be pleased with him) reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and Abu Bakr and 'Umar observed halt at al-Abtah.

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَأَبَا بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ كَانُوا يَنْزِلُونَ الأَبْطَحَ.

Narrated by Abdullāh ibn ‘Umar

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) alighted at al-Muhassab so that it might be easier for him to proceed (to Medina). It is not a sunnah (i.e. a rite of Hajj). Anyone who desires may alight there, and anyone who does not want may not alight.

نَزَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم الْمُحَصَّبَ لِيَكُونَ أَسْمَحَ لِخُرُوجِهِ وَلَيْسَ بِسُنَّةٍ فَمَنْ شَاءَ نَزَلَهُ وَمَنْ شَاءَ لَمْ يَنْزِلْهُ ‏.‏

Abu Rafi’ said The Apostle of Allaah(ﷺ) did not command me to align there. But when I pitched his tent there, he alighted. The narrator Musaddad said “He (Abu Rafi’) kept watch over the luggage of the Prophet(ﷺ). The narrator ‘Uthman said That is in Al Abtah.
