Narrator:Umm al-Fadl bint al-Hārith

حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ، سَمِعَ سُفْيَانَ، أَخْبَرَنَا سَالِمٌ أَبُو النَّضْرِ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عُمَيْرًا، مَوْلَى أُمِّ الْفَضْلِ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أُمِّ الْفَضْلِ، قَالَتْ

شَكَّ النَّاسُ فِي صِيَامِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَوْمَ عَرَفَةَ، فَأَرْسَلْتُ إِلَيْهِ بِإِنَاءٍ فِيهِ لَبَنٌ فَشَرِبَ‏.‏

Narrated Um Al-Fadl:

The people doubted whether Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) was fasting or the Day of `Arafat or not. So I sent a cup containing milk to him and he drank it.

Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani — Fath al-Bari

حَدِيث أُمّ الْفَضْل فِي شُرْب اللَّبَن بِعَرَفَة. وَقَدْ تَقَدَّمَ شَرْحه فِي الصِّيَام. وَقَوْله فِي آخِره " وَكَانَ سُفْيَان رُبَّمَا قَالَ : شَكَّ النَّاس فِي صِيَام رَسُول اللَّه صَلَّى اللَّه عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , فَأَرْسَلَتْ إِلَيْهِ أُمّ الْفَضْل , فَإِذَا وُقِفَ عَلَيْهِ قَالَ : هُوَ عَنْ أُمّ الْفَضْل " يَعْنِي أَنَّ سُفْيَان كَانَ رُبَّمَا أَرْسَلَ الْحَدِيث فَلَمْ يَقُلْ فِي الْإِسْنَاد عَنْ أُمّ الْفَضْل. فَإِذَا سُئِلَ عَنْهُ هَلْ هُوَ مَوْصُول أَوْ مُرْسَل قَالَ : هُوَ عَنْ أُمّ الْفَضْل. وَهُوَ فِي قُوَّة قَوْله هُوَ مَوْصُول. وَهَذَا مَعْنَى قَوْله وُقِفَ عَلَيْهِ. وَهُوَ بِضَمِّ أَوَّله وَكَسْر الْقَاف. وَوَقَعَ فِي رِوَايَة أَبِي ذَرّ " وُوقِفَ " بِزِيَادَةِ وَاو سَاكِنَة…

On the day of 'Arafah some people near her argued whether the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was fasting, some saying that he was, and others saying that he was not. I, therefore, sent him a cup of milk while he was observing the halt at 'Arafah on his camel, and he drank it.

‏ فَأَرْسَلَتْ إِلَيْهِ بِقَدَحِ لَبَنٍ وَهُوَ وَاقِفٌ عَلَى بَعِيرِهِ بِعَرَفَةَ فَشَرِبَ ‏.‏

The people doubted whether the Prophet (ﷺ) was fasting on the day of `Arafat or not, so I sent milk while he was standing at `Arafat, he drank it and the people were looking at him.

النَّاسَ، شَكُّوا فِي صِيَامِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَوْمَ عَرَفَةَ، فَأَرْسَلَتْ إِلَيْهِ بِحِلاَبٍ وَهْوَ وَاقِفٌ فِي الْمَوْقِفِ، فَشَرِبَ مِنْهُ، وَالنَّاسُ يَنْظُرُونَ‏.‏

Authentic Sahih al-Bukhari 5618

(daughter of Al-Harith) that she sent a bowl of milk to the Prophet (ﷺ) while he was standing (at `Arafat) in the afternoon of the Day of `Arafat. He took it in his hands and drank it. Narrated Abu Nadr: The Prophet was on the back of his camel.

أَنَّهَا أَرْسَلَتْ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم بِقَدَحِ لَبَنٍ، وَهُوَ وَاقِفٌ عَشِيَّةَ عَرَفَةَ، فَأَخَذَ بِيَدِهِ فَشَرِبَهُ‏.‏
