Narrator:Ā’ishah

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنْ أَبِي النَّضْرِ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ـ رضى الله عنها ـ قَالَتْ

كُنْتُ أَمُدُّ رِجْلِي فِي قِبْلَةِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي، فَإِذَا سَجَدَ غَمَزَنِي فَرَفَعْتُهَا، فَإِذَا قَامَ مَدَدْتُهَا‏.‏

Narrated Aisha:

I used to stretch my legs towards the Qibla of the Prophet (ﷺ) while he was praying; whenever he prostrated he touched me, and I would withdraw my legs, and whenever he stood up, I would restretch my legs.

Explanation in Arabic

الصَّلاةُ عِبادةٌ رُوحيَّةٌ، يقِفُ فيها العبْدُ بيْن يَدَيْ ربِّه سُبحانَه؛ فيَنْبغي أنْ يُراعيَ أسبابَ الخُشوعِ وعدَمَ الانشغالِ في صَلاتِه.وفي هذا الحديثِ تُخبِرُ عائِشةُ رَضيَ اللهُ عنها أنَّها كانت تَنامُ بيْنَ يدَيْ رَسولِ اللهِ صلَّى اللهُ عليه وسلَّمَ ورِجْلاها في قِبْلتِه، يعني: كان النبيُّ صلَّى اللهُ عليه وسلَّمَ يُصلِّي صَلاةَ التَّهجُّدِ على فِراشِ أهلِه، وكانت تَنامُ أمامَه أثناءَ صَلاتِه وهي مُتَوسِّطةٌ بيْنَه وبيْنَ القِبْلةِ، فإذا سَجَد صلَّى اللهُ عليه وسلَّمَ لَمَسَها بِيَدِه الشَّريفةِ؛ ليُنبِّهَها إلى أنَّه يُريدُ السُّجودَ، فتَقبِضُ هي رِجْلَها، وتَضُمُّهما؛ لِيَتمكَّنَ مِن السُّجودِ، فإذا قامَ مدَّتْهُما، وكانت البُيوتُ في ذلك الوقتِ بلا أنوارٍ أو مَصابيحَ؛ لِما كانتْ عليه حالُهم مِن القِلَّةِ والزُّهدِ، وهو إشارةٌ إلى أنَّ الظَّلامَ سَببٌ أو عِلَّةٌ لوُجودِها أمامَ النبيِّ صلَّى اللهُ عليه وسلَّمَ وهو في صَلاتِه.وفي الحديثِ: أنَّ المرأةَ لا تقطَعُ الصَّلاةَ ولا تُفسِدُ صَلاةَ مَن صلَّى إليها.وفيه: أنَّ العَملَ اليَسيرَ في الصَّلاةِ غيرُ مُفسِدٍ لها.

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to pray at night and she (‘A’ishah) would lie between him and the qiblah, sleeping on the bed on which he would sleep. When he wanted to offer the witr prayer, he awakened her and she offered the witr prayer.

يُصَلِّي صَلاَتَهُ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ وَهِيَ مُعْتَرِضَةٌ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الْقِبْلَةِ رَاقِدَةً عَلَى الْفِرَاشِ الَّذِي يَرْقُدُ عَلَيْهِ حَتَّى إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يُوتِرَ أَيْقَظَهَا فَأَوْتَرَتْ ‏.‏
