حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبِيدَةُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ الْحَذَّاءُ، عَنِ الرُّكَيْنِ بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ، عَنْ حُصَيْنِ بْنِ قَبِيصَةَ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، - رضى الله عنه - قَالَ كُنْتُ رَجُلاً مَذَّاءً فَجَعَلْتُ أَغْتَسِلُ حَتَّى تَشَقَّقَ ظَهْرِي فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم - أَوْ ذُكِرَ لَهُ - فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏"‏ لاَ تَفْعَلْ

إِذَا رَأَيْتَ الْمَذْىَ فَاغْسِلْ ذَكَرَكَ وَتَوَضَّأْ وُضُوءَكَ لِلصَّلاَةِ فَإِذَا فَضَخْتَ الْمَاءَ فَاغْتَسِلْ ‏"

‘Ali said:

My prostatic fluid flowed excessively. I used to take a bath until my back cracked (because of frequent washing). I mentioned it to the prophet (May peace be upon him), or the fact was mentioned to him (by someone else). The Messenger of Allah (May peace be upon him) said; Do not do so. When you find prostatic fluid, wash your penis and perform ablution as you do for your prayer, but when you have seminal emission, you should take a bath.

Al-Azimabadi — Awn al-Ma'bud

( مَذَّاء ) : صِيغَة مُبَالَغَة مِنْ الْمَذْي أَيْ كَثِير الْمَذْي يُقَال مَذَى يَمْذِي مِثْل مَضَى يَمْضِي ثُلَاثِيًّا , وَيُقَال أَمَذْي يُمْذِي رُبَاعِيًّا ( أَغْتَسِل ) : مِنْ الْمَذْي فِي الشِّتَاء كَمَا فِي بَعْض الرِّوَايَات ( تَشَقَّقَ ظَهْرِي ) : أَيْ حَصَلَ لِي شُقُوق مِنْ شِدَّة أَلَم الْبَرْد ( فَذَكَرْت ذَلِكَ ) : تِلْكَ الْحَالَة الَّتِي حَصَلَتْ لِي ( أَوْ ذُكِرَ لَهُ ) : هَكَذَا وَقَعَ بِالشَّكِّ فِي هَذِهِ الرِّوَايَة , لَكِنْ فِي رِوَايَة النَّسَائِيِّ وَالتِّرْمِذِيّ عَنْ عَلِيّ قَالَ : سَأَلْت النَّبِيّ صَلَّى اللَّه عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِلَا شَكّ وَكَذَا فِي رِوَايَة لِابْنِ حِبَّان الْإِسْمَاعِيلِيّ أَنَّ عَلِيًّا قَالَ سَأَلْت. فَفِي هَذِهِ الرِّوَايَات أَنَّ عَلِيًّا س…

"I was one who had a lot of prostatic discharge, and the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to me: 'If you see Madhi (prostatic fluid) then wash your penis and perform Wudu' like that for Salah, but if you ejaculate semen, then perform Ghusl.'"

‘Abdullāh ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: ‘Umar ibn al-Khattāb (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "O Messenger of Allah, may anyone of us sleep while being ritually impure?" He said: "Yes, he may sleep if he makes ablution."
