Tafsir of verse 86
Al-Mukhtasar
Those deities that the idolaters worship instead of Allah are not able to intercede in front of Allah, except those that testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah whilst understanding their testimony, i.e. Jesus, Ezra and the angels.
Those whom they supplicate31 besides Him have no power to intercede, except those who testify to the truth knowingly32.
Notes
[31] i.e., worship.
[32] i.e., except those who testify knowingly that none is worthy of worship except Allah, such as Jesus, Ezra, the angels, etc.
And those whom they invoke instead of Him have no power of intercession - except for those who bear witness to the truth knowingly (i.e. believed in the Oneness of Allâh, and obeyed His Orders), and they know (the facts about the Oneness of Allâh).5
Notes
[5] (V.43:86) See the footnote of (V.2:165).
And those unto whom they cry instead of Him possess no power of intercession, saving him who beareth witness unto the Truth knowingly.
And those whom they invoke besides Allah have no power of intercession;- only he who bears witness to the Truth, and they know (him).
And those whom they call upon besides Him have no authority for intercession, but he who bears witness of the truth and they know (him).
And the ones they invoke, apart from Him, do not possess (the power) of intercession, excepting him who witnesses to the Truth, and they know it.
