Tafsir of verse 88
Al-Mukhtasar
Those who disbelieved and turned others away from the Religion of Allah will have their punishment increased above and beyond what was due to them from their own disbelief, but because they misguiding others also.
Those who disbelieve and prevent others from the way of Allah, We will add punishment to their punishment for the corruption they used to spread.
Those who disbelieved and hinder (men) from the Path of Allâh, for them We will add torment to the torment because they used to spread corruption [by disobeying Allâh themselves, as well as ordering others (mankind) to do so].
For those who disbelieve and debar (men) from the way of Allah, We add doom to doom because they wrought corruption,
Those who reject Allah and hinder (men) from the Path of Allah - for them will We add Penalty to Penalty; for that they used to spread mischief.
(As for) those who disbelieve and turn away from Allah's way, We will add chastisement to their chastisement because they made mischief.
The ones who have disbelieved and barred from the way of Allah, We will increase for them torment above the torment, for that they were corrupting (in the earth).
And [warn of] the Day when He will say, "Call My 'partners' whom you claimed," and they will invoke them, but they will not respond to them. And We will put between them [a valley of] destruction. …
And who is more astray than he who invokes besides Allāh those who will not respond to him until the Day of Resurrection [i.e., never], and they, of their invocation, are unaware. …
Indeed, those who disbelieved and averted [people] from the path of Allāh and opposed the Messenger after guidance had become clear to them - never will they harm Allāh at all, and He will render worthless their deeds.
