The Hour has drawn near and the moon has split asunder1.

Notes

[1] The Quraysh pagans challenged the Prophet (ﷺ) to split the moon in two so that they believe in him. The moon was split as they requested and then re-joined, and the incident was reported by several eyewitnesses in different parts of the land; however, they still refused to believe, considering it magic.

The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder (the people of Makkah requested Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم to show them a miracle, so he showed them the splitting of the moon).1

Notes

[1] (V.54:1) Narrated Anas رضي الله عنه: The people of Makkah asked the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم to show them a sign (miracle). So he showed them (the miracle) of the cleaving of the moon. (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Vol.6, Hadîth No.390).

The hour drew nigh and the moon was rent in twain.

The Hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and the moon is cleft asunder.

The hour drew nigh and the moon did rend asunder.

The Hour (The Arabic noun is feminine) has drawn near, and the moon (The Arabic noun is masculine) is cloven.
