Al-Mukhtasar
O Messenger! Say to these rejecting idolaters, reprimanding them: “Tell me, if Allah was to case death to me and to those with me i.e. the believers, who will save the disbelievers from a painful punishment?” No one will ever save them from it.
Say, “What do you think9, if Allah causes me and those who are with me to die or shows us mercy, who will save the disbelievers from a painful punishment?”
Notes
[9] i.e., Inform me.
Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم): "Tell me! If Allâh destroys me, and those with me, or He bestows His Mercy on us - who can save the disbelievers from a painful torment?"
Say (O Muhammad): Have ye thought: Whether Allah causeth me (Muhammad) and those with me to perish or hath mercy on us, still, who will protect the disbelievers from a painful doom?
Say: "See ye?- If Allah were to destroy me, and those with me, or if He bestows His Mercy on us,- yet who can deliver the Unbelievers from a grievous Penalty?"
Say: Have you considered if Allah should destroy me and those with me-- rather He will have mercy on us; yet who will protect the unbelievers from a painful punishment?
Say, "Have you seen (that) in case Allah causes me to perish, and whoever is with me, or has mercy on us, then who will (give neighborly) protection to the disbelievers from painful torment?"
And if those who did wrong had all that is in the earth entirely and the like of it with it, they would [attempt to] ransom themselves thereby from the worst of the punishment on the Day of Resurrection. And there will appear to them from Allāh that which they had not taken into account. …
And to Allāh belong the unseen [aspects] of the heavens and the earth and to Him will be returned the matter, all of it, so worship Him and rely upon Him. And your Lord is not unaware of that which you do.
