Tafsir of verse 2
Al-Mukhtasar
The one who created death and life to test you, O people, which one of you is better in terms of actions. He is the Almighty who no one can overpower; the Forgiving of the sins of whichever of His servants repents to him.
Who created death and life to test you as to which of you is best in deeds, and He is the All-Mighty, the Most Forgiving.
Who has created death and life that He may test you which of you is best in deed.1 And He is the All-Mighty, the Oft-Forgiving;
Notes
[1] (V.67:2) i.e. who amongst you do the good deeds in the most perfect manner, that means to do them (deeds) totally for Allâh’s sake and in accordance with the legal ways of Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم.
Who hath created life and death that He may try you which of you is best in conduct; and He is the Mighty, the Forgiving,
He Who created Death and Life, that He may try which of you is best in deed: and He is the Exalted in Might, Oft-Forgiving;-
Who created death and life that He may try you-- which of you is best in deeds; and He is the Mighty, the Forgiving,
Who created death and life to try you, whichever of you is fairest in deeds; and He is The Ever-Mighty, The Ever-Forgiving.
How can you disbelieve in Allāh when you were lifeless and He brought you to life; then He will cause you to die, then He will bring you [back] to life, and then to Him you will be returned.

And it is He who created the heavens and the earth in six days - and His Throne had been upon water - that He might test you as to which of you is best in deed. But if you say, "Indeed, you are resurrected after death," those who disbelieve will surely say, "This is not but obvious magic."
