Tafsir of verse 13
Al-Mukhtasar
For every person I have made the actions that proceed from him attached to him, like how a necklace is attached to the neck. They will not leave him until he is taken to account for them. On the Day of Judgement, I will bring out for him a book that contains every good or bad deed that he did, which he will find spread open before him.
We have bound every man’s deeds to his neck11. On the Day of Resurrection, We will bring forth for him a record which he will find spread open.
Notes
[11] i.e., after showing guidance for him, he is responsible for his own destiny.
And We have fastened every man’s deeds3 to his neck, and on the Day of Resurrection, We shall bring out for him a book which he will find wide open.
Notes
[3] (V.17:13) Narrated Ibn Mas‘ûd رضي الله عنه: A man asked the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم "What deeds are the best?" The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said; (1) To perform the (daily compulsory) Salât (prayers) at their (early) stated fixed times; (2) To be good and dutiful to one’s own parents (3) and to participate in Jihâd in Allâh’s Cause." (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Vol.9, Hadith No.625).
And every man's augury have We fastened to his own neck, and We shall bring forth for him on the Day of Resurrection a book which he will find wide open.
Every man's fate We have fastened on his own neck: On the Day of Judgment We shall bring out for him a scroll, which he will see spread open.
And We have made every man's actions to cling to his neck, and We will bring forth to him on the resurrection day a book which he will find wide open:
And every man We have imposed on him his bird (of augury) upon his neck, and We will bring out for him, on the Day of the Resurrection, a book (that) he will meet with, spread open.
It is He who made the sun a shining light and the moon a derived light and determined for it phases - that you may know the number of years and account [of time]. Allāh has not created this except in truth. He details the signs for a people who know. …
They ask you, [O Muḥammad], about the crescent moons. Say, "They are measurements of time for the people and for ḥajj [pilgrimage]." And it is not righteousness to enter houses from the back, but righteousness is [in] one who fears Allāh. And enter houses from their doors. And fear Allāh that you may succeed.
It [i.e., Paradise] is not [obtained] by your wishful thinking nor by that of the People of the Scripture. Whoever does a wrong will be recompensed for it, and he will not find besides Allāh a protector or a helper.
