Text of verse 15:71

قَالَ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ بَنَاتِىٓ إِن كُنتُمْ فَٰعِلِينَ ۝٧١

Transliteration

qāla hāulāi banātī in kuntum fāʿilīna

Translation

[Lot] said, "These are my daughters⁶⁸¹ - if you would be doers [of lawful marriage]."

[681] i.e., the women of his community who were lawful for marriage.

Al-Mukhtasar

Lot (peace be with him) said to them: These are the women of my people, who are like daughters to me. Marry them if you want to satisfy your desires.

He said, “These are my daughters [to marry], if you must³³.”

Notes

[33] i.e., the women of my community or my own daughters in a lawful marriage.

[Lût (Lot)] said: "These (the girls of the nation) are my daughters (to marry lawfully), if you must act (so)."

He said: Here are my daughters, if ye must be doing (so).

He said: "There are my daughters (to marry), if ye must act (so)."

He said: These are my daughters, if you will do (aught).

He said, "These are my daughters (to marry), if you would be performing (that)."
